USGS Western Ecological Research Center scientist Josh Adams will give this public lecture. Seabirds inhabit the far reaches of the earth's oceans. Their life history, behavioral, and physiological strategies make them a dramatically diverse and successful group of marine predators.

Throughout recent human history, many species have been forced to extinction or have suffered dramatic decreases in abundance. Many seabirds still face challenges from pollution, industrial fishing, climate change, and introduced predators on islands they inhabit. The Monterey Bay provides an excellent backdrop for this talk about some of our well-known (and some virtually unknown) seabirds. Come learn about the results of recent seabird research, plus ongoing efforts in conservation, both here in Santa Cruz and across the Pacific.
