Pallid bats roost in small colonies and emerge much later in the evening than most bats. They are unusual in feeding on ground-dwelling invertebrates such as Jerusalem crickets, centipedes, scorpions, grasshoppers, and beetles. Pallid bats have short, rounded wings (15-16") that allow them to fly slowly over the ground and even hover or glide.
