My research program is focused on improving our understanding and management of wildlife and their habitats, with special emphasis on ecology of migratory waterfowl and their predators. This has required studies at a variety of scales, from specific midcontinent breeding sites, to wintering and staging western regions, to international and intercontinental migration corridors. I have developed and applied a variety of techniques integrated across multiple scientific disciplines to study wildlife ecology and measure quality, quantity, and dynamics of upland, wetland, and agricultural habitats. I have special expertise on northern pintail ecology, and waterfowl capture and radio-telemetry techniques.
