Dr. Eagles-Smith is a Wildlife Biologist with the Davis Field Station at the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining USGS, he was a Senior Biologist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service Environmental Contaminants Division where he applied science to resource management and regulation. His primary research interests focus on food web ecology, aquatic ecosystem energetics, and contaminant bioaccumulation. His ecological expertise spans a range of taxonomic groups, including fish, waterbirds, and aquatic invertebrates. His recent work has focused on tracing contaminant bioaccumulation though freshwater and estuarine food webs, quantifying the effects of contaminants on avian reproduction, and the application of stable isotope methodology to trophic studies. He also co-directs the USGS Western Ecological Research Center Mercury Lab.
